NABS
Youth Committee
What
is the NABS Youth Committee?
It’s a national organization that strives to promote a sense of
pride and camaraderie among our youth by challenging them through
involvement in aquatic activities and the marine environment.
The Committee focuses on producing successful, confident young
leaders who will have a strong impact on their communities and chosen
professions.
How
does it work?
Throughout the year, the program organizes dive-related activities
that stress an interest in the marine sciences.
Because it’s a national program, the youth interact and build
relationships with a variety of other youths within their age group who
have similar interests. In
the past, the activities have included dive training and youth summits.
How old do I have to be to
participate?
The program is open to youth, ages 11-18.
Participants generally demonstrate an above-average level of
maturity and decision-making skills.
Is it safe?
Absolutely, the students are taught the skills of SCUBA diving by
certified PADI instructors, most of which have had many years of diving
and teaching experience.
Will I be able
to SCUBA dive after this program?
Youth who successfully complete the dive training course can expect to
obtain any of the following
PADI certifications:
- Junior
Open Water Diver
- Junior
Advanced Open Water Diver
- Junior
Rescue Diver
What is PADI?
Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) is
the world’s largest recreational diving membership organization. PADI
Professionals make underwater exploration and adventure accessible to the
public while maintaining the highest industry standards for dive training,
safety and customer service.
How do I sign
up?
Just contact a local
representative for more information.
